Like I mentioned before, any and all bugs are not influencing my score. After Firaxis revived the long-dormant XCOM franchise by way of the stunning return to form that was XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the big question in the minds of fans eventually became “So, what’s next?” While the original X-COM: UFO Defense was a ground-breaking game for its time that brought to life a mostly loved strategy franchise, the sequel, Terror From the Deep, was… not so well received, as most critics of the time felt it was a glorified expansion pack rather than a true sequel. Any self-respecting gamer knows the title and what it stands for and specifically for Switch owners, if you loved the Rabbids game, this is the title that set the bar for this genre and that bar is VERY high. A game like this almost makes me wonder where the real limit is of the Nintendo Switch… I am quite sure that this game could be one of the better releases of the year even, I feel this strong about this collection brought to Switch. Text is not too small, the action is still easy to see even under night lights, … The big overview screen might be a little small for some, but it is just there to see where the Advent are when you are planning your next move. For me personally, my biggest concern was whether or not the game would run on the small screen of the Switch, and to my big delight, it does. Well, issues enough sadly, this game currently has a rather big list of known bugs, but do not let that distract you, most of them right now make it easier on the gamer. Now the elephant in the room and the biggest challenge some tactical games have faced, is it really suited for playing on the Nintendo Switch? Is the screen big enough? Does it have any issues? From going to the research lab in between missions to promoting your staff after a job well done, XCOM 2 brings the entire game down to an experience. What really sets the bar for other games is that XCOM 2 really adds so much to the genre, making it not just a tactical game, but very much also an RPG. Your mind is your weapon in a game like this and if one option does not work, just try the next one. From sneaking around enemies and avoiding getting spotted to taking them out with a well-timed gunshot. You just sit back and absorb everything the game brings to the table and enjoy it. So how do you review a genre-defining game? In my humble opinion, you can not. Discover a unique new soldier class complete with powerful new combat abilities, strategy mechanics, and customization options.
